Recently, I dove into an epic Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) session with a group of friends, and this time, we explored the enchanting world of Strixhaven, a setting from the Magic: The Gathering crossover. In this campaign, we stepped into the shoes of first-year students at Strixhaven, a prestigious magical university that welcomes aspiring mages from all walks of life, regardless of their backgrounds. Our adventure kicked off with the excitement of the college’s Welcoming Day!
The story began with vibrant magical fireworks, bustling club recruitment stalls, and a mix of friendly (and sometimes competitive) interactions between the academy’s various colleges. Each player crafted a unique backstory for their character—some hailed from distant lands, others carried the weight of family legacies, and a few were simply driven by a passion for magic. During Welcoming Day, we dove into magical duels, tackled mind-bending puzzles, and even stumbled into a “minor” campus crisis that had us laughing and on the edge of our seats.
This D&D session was a blast, letting us unleash our creativity in the spellbinding world of Strixhaven while strengthening our bonds as friends. From character creation to improvising through unexpected plot twists, every moment was filled with joy and surprises. We’re already looking forward to our next session, where we’ll continue weaving our magical saga at Strixhaven!
